Ground-breaking service

In 1995, in response to concerns about the safe use of lasers in hospitals and clinics, PHE introduced the medical Laser Protection Adviser (LPA) service. This groundbreaking service was welcomed by the healthcare industry. Twenty years on and we have provided hundreds of clients with industry leading support, advice and training.

We provide specialist safety advice services to a large number of healthcare providers with a wide range of laser and intense pulsed light (IPL) applications. A typical scope of work might include:

  • Advice on the safety aspects of new and existing Laser and Intense Pulsed Light systems
  • Assistance with any registration process
  • An annual audit of existing arrangements
  • Advice on legislation, standards and guidance
  • Help to develop a laser safety management programme that demonstrates your commitment to safety
  • Provision of Laser and Intense Pulsed Light safety training

This would include help with:

  • Determining eyewear requirements
  • Laser safety policies
  • Local rules
  • Risk assessments
